Easy DIY Projects

There are several projects that are easy for many homeowners to accomplish and which will reap energy savings. I have listed a few of the most common below:

Insulating and sealing exposed duct-work in attics, basements, or crawlspaces
Adding insulation in attics or under floors
Caulking around windows, doors, and siding joints
Replacing incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescents or LEDs
Installing electronic “set-back” thermostats

A few more difficult projects are:

Upgrading plumbing fixtures and shower heads
Installing a radiant barrier under the roof or increasing attic ventilation
Upgrading appliances to those that are “Energy Star” rated
